GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Montrose Indians stepped into the Central High School gym Friday night as the number one boys and girls teams in the SWL. They were determined to keep it that way.

In the girls game, the Indians offense surged to an impressive 14-point lead at halftime. Overall, junior Kala Keltz of Montrose was good from just about any range as she led all scorers with 21 on the night. The Indians also held Central's Brittany Hoppe to 11 points and Jordan Eller to 6 in the 47-26 victory. The win helps Montrose become the first team to 3 wins in the Southwestern League this season.

The result was the same for the boys contest. Montrose had a lot of help from big men Brad Warren and Nathan Hawley in the paint as they ran away with a 53-37 "W". On a side note, Central's Trent Coleman did not start the game for the Warriors, perhaps an indicator that his right ankle has not fully recovered from a sprain he suffered last week.
