When a homeless child starts attending School District 51 for the first time it's hard for the staff to know how far behind the student might be.
And that could cause them to get lost in the shuffle.
But thanks to an $80,000 grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act school administrators will use that money towards testing and examining these students to check which grade level they should be in.
The District says this grant will be a huge help for them and of course the kids.
There are at least 400 homeless kids attending School District 51 schools.
