Students in class. Richmond County must cut about $7.2 million from its already slim budget. (July 28, 2009 WRDW-TV)
On the first day of school, District 51 officials are keeping an eye on numbers.

The District says it has already taken steps to address overcrowding.
Two new modulars have been built at Rim Rock Elementary, some boundary shifting has taken place, and more teachers have been hired.
