DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Board of Education is reviewing model content standards that could result in sweeping changes to public education.

The board was considering model content standards in 13 areas during a meeting on Wednesday. The proposal includes such subjects as civics, economics, geography, history, math and music.

The standards represent what educators believe students should know at various points in their education. The state currently tests students only on reading, writing, math and science.

The board is scheduled to consider adoption of the new standards in December.
