Legos teach life lessons

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Fifth grade students at Fruitvale Elementary School got a unique lesson in construction Thursday while playing with Legos.

The kids took part in the 10th Annual Block Kids Building Competition. They were given 100 Legos, their choice of either a small rock, string, foil or poster board and just 45 minutes to make what represents something used in construction or the result of a construction project.

The Block Kids Building Program is a national effort to get kids interested and involved in the construction industry. Brandon Tallerico won first place in his Fruitvale class.

    Just an added detail to the story. The National Association of Women in Construction, Western Colorado Chapter #359 organized and presented this event to the Fruitvale Elementary School.
