GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Fifth grade students at Fruitvale Elementary School got a unique lesson in construction Thursday while playing with Legos.

The kids took part in the 10th Annual Block Kids Building Competition. They were given 100 Legos, their choice of either a small rock, string, foil or poster board and just 45 minutes to make what represents something used in construction or the result of a construction project.

The Block Kids Building Program is a national effort to get kids interested and involved in the construction industry. Brandon Tallerico won first place in his Fruitvale class.
