GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - 150 adoptions have taken place in Delta recently, and the most amazing part is who exactly has been adopted.
Grandparents are being taken in the Adopt–A–Grandparent program designed by Delta Opportunity School student Mathew Gallegos.
It pairs people generations a part, creating teams of youth and wisdom to be with each other every week.
Gallengos approached his teachers at the "DOS" with this original idea and it's really taking off.
"We have the Delta Middle School," says Gallegos, "and now the Delta High School wants to get involved."
The students do a lot when they come to visit including walks around the town and, when the weather picks up, they are planning a massive barbeque outside.
