GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - District 51 high school students were honored Monday for their academic achievements.

At the 8th Annual Superintendent's Luncheon, 84 seniors were recognized for accomplishing a cumulative 4.0 or better GPA during their four years in high school.

District officials say considering the amount of effort these students put in the classroom, an awards lunch was much deserved.

"I put in a lot of extra effort. I've been involved in many other school activities. And it was important for me to not only be in school, but also been in as many school activities as possible," says Rebecca Singley, Central High School senior.

For their efforts, students from all four District 51 high schools were honored with a plaque and picture with Superintendent Steven Schultz.
