GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - More than 1800 fifth graders are flooding the Mesa State College campus this week.
Monday and Tuesday is the 17th Annual Water Festival. Fifth graders from every school, private and public, from Parachute to the Utah border, are learning more about the wonder of water. From how much water is in your body, to how water is used to fight fires.
"We match it with the Mesa County, School District 51, standards, so everything that they're learning here, they're learning in the classroom and they're getting the hands-on application at the Water Festival," says Joe Burtard the Water Festival coordinator.
Burtard says it takes six months to plan the Water Festival and coordinate with all the schools.
