MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - Before you know it, Summer will be over and kids will be headed back to school.
District 51 health officials say now is the time to start getting your children the required vaccines they need to attend school.
Colorado School Entrance Immunization Law requires all students to provide proof of immunizations to attend school. Failure to supply the necessary information may result in your student being suspended from school. Below are the 2010-2011 immunization requirements.
Kindergarten thru 3rd grades:
DTaP, Polio, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella
4th and 5th Grades:
DTaP, Polio, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varcella
All students entering 6th through 12th grades are required to have one TDaP shot. The majority of incoming 6th and 10th graders have not received this shot in preparation for starting school in August 2010.
District 51 health officials say parents should talk to their doctors to see if their children are up to date on their immunizations. You can schedule an appointment for an immunization with the Mesa County Health Department by calling 248-6900.
