GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Getting kids outside will be easier for District 51 next year thanks to a big check from Chevron.
A $7,000 donation will help cover transportation costs of outdoor fieldtrips for students in District 51 and the De Beque School District.
The fund is a program run by the Riverfront Commission, a group aimed at building continuous trails and education opportunities along the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers.
District 51 officials say the money will help them take the kids on trips they probably wouldn’t have been able to take otherwise.
