MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - The Mesa County District Attorney is now reviewing allegations a District 51 teacher shoved a 5th grader to the ground.

The alleged incident was first reported Jan. 28 at Chipeta Elementary School.

Grand Junction Police were called to the school after a confrontation between the teacher and an 11-year-old boy over the use of an MP3 player allegedly became physical.

"We have interviewed a number of people that may have been witnesses and have now sent that case over to the DA's office for review," says Kate Porras with the Grand Junction Police Department.

The 5th grade teacher involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave.
