10-month-old diagnosed with brain tumor, family seeking assistance

CRAIG, Colo. (KKCO) - At just 10 months little Landon Hatcher is fighting an adult-sized battle.

The infant was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. He went into Children's Hospital in Denver Jan. 26 and after an MRI, doctors found a 3-inch brain tumor and removed 80 percent of it through surgery. A pathology report shows he has a type 3 ependymoma brian tumor. Treatment is another surgery Feb. 9 to remove the rest of the tumor and radiation treatments.

While he's struggling to in the hospital in Denver, his family is hoping the community will help him fight here at home.

His parents, who live in Craig, do not have health insurance and are struggling with his medical bills. Anyone able to help him can make a donation to the Landon M. Hatcher Benefit Donation Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.

For more information you can contact his grandmother, Terrie Hatcher, at 970/618.1760. She respectfully requests his parents not be contacted as they are dealing with an overwhelming situation, but appreciate everyone's support.

Your family may consider St. Jude. It is absolutely wonderful there. They will cover your treatment 100%. they have many ependymoma patients now one of which being my three year old daughter. They have great doctors who specialize in ependymoma. I would give them a call they call answer any questions you have. They will alleviate your stress by covering your treatment and putting you up in lodging and pay for your meals while your there. Our prayers are with you. Keep your heads up. It may not seem like it but it does get better. Jennifer, jenniferdowney86@yahoo.com

Someone please contact the family and tell them about our on-line Pediatric Ependymoma Brain group. They can join us here. ( http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ependymomas/ ) We've all been through what they're going through and may have some answers to their many questions. Marty Salt Lake City Utha

Just a thought have they applied for state medicaid? sometimes children can qualify for this program when they are uninsured & the parents are not making lots of money..I pray God heals this beautiful child & provides for the parents needs & courage.
