Sharefest 2009

For the second year in a row, dozens of local churches have combined efforts to lend some help to people in the community.

On Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, hundreds of community members will be matched with projects that help people in need all over the Grand Valley.

There are 300 projects that will be tackled during the Sharefest 2009 weekend, and anyone can volunteer. Here are just a few examples of the types of projects that need to be done:

• Someone needs a cupboard cut shortened by about 4 inches to install a microwave over a stove
• Someone needs a swamp cooler readied for summer and new unscented pads for it.
• Someone needs a trampoline frame taken down and the yard cleaned up.

If you’re interested in signing up for a project, you can head to www.gjsharefest.com or call Viki at 970-248-5946.

And here is what you need to know if you want to sign up on the day of the event, or if you are already signed up for a project:

Saturday, April 25 – 8:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church, 765 24 Rd.
Sunday, April 26 – 8:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian, 3940 27 ½ Rd.

Then, on Sunday at 1:00p.m. will be the second annual Sharefest Celebration, which will be held at Canyon View Park. To learn more about that, visit New Girl on the Block (see blog link below).
