GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- In his formal introduction to his team's new home town on Thursday, Grand Junction Rockies manger Tony Diaz said he's most excited about joining a community that cares and embraces new-comers as much as the Grand Valley residents do.
Diaz is entering his 6th season as the manager for the Colorado Rockies rookie affiliate team. In that span his teams have yet to finish with more than 37 wins (accomplished in 2010) in a 76-game season, which hasn't placed them higher than 3rd in the 4-team Southern division of the Pioneer League. According to Diaz, though, that can all change with a new, excited fan base, a top-notch bullpen, and, not to mention, a state-of-the-art facility at Suplizio Field.
