FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - They aren't words you often hear with major construction projects: ahead of schedule or under budget. But Fruita Community Center officials say they are both and will welcome the community Saturday.

Actually, just pass holders (annual, monthly and punch) can get in this weekend. Staffers are calling it a soft opening and will use the time for final training. You can still get a pass, and can even pick one up this weekend. Click the link below under Related Links for rates and more information.

City officials promised residents the center would be open by the end of this month, a promise they say will be fulfilled when it officially opens to the public on Monday. And that under-budget claim, Center officials say they beat the bottom line by about $500,000.

The 48,000 center includes:
-Indoor/Outdoor Pool - Lap lanes, Kiddie Pool, Lazy River with Vortex, Pool party room, Climbing Wall, and Drop Slide
-Senior Center
-Gymnasium - Courts for Basketball, Volleyball and Pickleball
-Meeting rooms - Outdoor Patio and Catering Kitchen
-Fitness Wellness Deck - Free Weights, Circuit area, Cardio equipment, Group exercise room, indoor track
-Indoor Playground
-Childcare Area

A new location for the Fruita Library is inside the center. It will also open Monday.
