Preparing for summer camps

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - When school ends kids are free to do what they please, and summer camps provide a safe and fun place for kids to spend their free time.

But when you drop your kids off at camp, how much do you really know about the people taking care of them?

In the city of Grand Junction the vast majority of summer camps are certified with the state of Colorado, which means councilors must pass a drug screening, FBI background check, motor vehicle check, and other requirements before being hired.

The only exemption to this rule is camps that are sports-specific, including some shorter baseball camps. If you're sending your children to a sports camp, make sure you do your research about it before you send them out to play ball.
