Suplizio officially open for business

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Nearly 11-months after Suplizio Field closed for construction, the formal ribbon was cut to announce it's grand opening Wednesday.

The stadium has been open for use by CMU athletics and high school athletics for the past 3 weeks. However, as JUCO Chairman Jamie Hamilton recalls, the official construction plans weren't planned to finish until May 20th. "But we all, in the back of our minds, wanted to have the opportunity for a [high school] senior to get a chance to play here at this facility before the JUCO World Series," Hamilton said.

Why did we the people pay the lions share to buid this giant green monstrosity and 600,000 of the 800,000 it cost to build Rockies offices, because we the people did not get to vote on it. Let this be the last time this happens!

It would have been nice to see something built that was good for kids, a rec center, a YMCA, etc. This good old boy town is ridiculous, glad I'm getting out of here.

Do you think the idiots in this town is ever going to get tired of wasting money? Somebody really needs to look into this.

I was wondering if they are paying off the loan with concessions money? $8 for a hamburger and $3 hot dogs?! Say goodbye to all the regular fans of JUCO with the overpriced tickets! A working stiff cant afford it now. THIS ISNT COORS FIELD!
