GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce is taking its annual trek to Denver Thursday. Chamber heads say the meetings with lawmakers help Grand Valley industries to establish a relationship with legislators. The group of 50–plus participants will be briefed on natural resources, higher education, the budget and congressional redistricting.
They'll also have dinner with nearly thirty politicians.
"...Have some opportunities for one–on–one, to know legislators from the front range, and other parts of Colorado, so that when we contact them with business related issues, they have a face to put with our communication. It's more effective," says Diane Schwenke.
Local business leaders, members of the city council, county commissioners, as well as members of the Rifle Chamber of Commerce, will be making the trip. It's the 18th year the organization has headed to Denver.
