Englewood kids found after Amber Alert

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Two young brothers are back home and their mom is in custody after investigators put out an Amber Alert for them.

Johnny, 8, and Joseph Dinapoli, 12, were found safe just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said their mom, Rebecca Dinapoli, was taken into custody on kidnapping charges, along with other charges stemming from the investigation.

The boys were initially reported missing around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in Englewood, police said.

Authorities said the boys went to get something from their grandfather's car, and when the grandfather went back to check on them, he saw the boys leaving in an SUV with their mom.

We're told the Rebecca Dinapoli does not have custody of the kids, and is known to have drug and mental health issues.

Despite calling the incident a kidnapping, both the grandparents and neighbors said they didn't think Rebecca would harm her children.

Off camera, the boys' grandmother told reporters at our Denver sister station that she and her husband were working to get full custody of the boys.
