GJPD officer taken to hospital after falling on ice at crash

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- UPDATE: A previous version of this story contained a mistake, which stated the "officer fell on the ice and hit his dead." That is definitely not true. The officer hit his head but GJPD reports he is fine. We apologize for any confusion.

The Grand Junction Police Department said an officer fell on the ice and hit his head while working a crash this morning.

GJPD said the officer was transported to the hospital to be checked out and has been released.

Police also reported that a sliding vehicle collided with a Grand Junction Fire Department engine that was parked and blocking an on-ramp to I-70.

There were no injuries.
