GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Flights in and out of Grand Junction were delayed on Monday for a few hours.
The Grand Junction Regional Airport had to close their runway because of icy conditions that prevented safe breaking action for planes.
Three flights were completely cancelled and a few others were delayed.
The Rocovich family was flying home to Seattle, and say if they didn't catch the next flight out around 3:20PM they would miss their connection.
“We are going to have to rearrange our travel from Salt Lake to Seattle,” Marty Rocovich explained. “So it’s just a waiting game. It’s the weather so it’s out of our hands.”
The airport used a chemical to break up the ice on the runway while also ‘brooming’ the runway and adding sand.
The airport resumed full operations around noon on Monday.
They encourage anyone flying out of town this week to check flights for any delays.
