GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- April 20th marked the anniversary of one of the darkest days in Colorado’s history, the shooting at Columbine High School 18 years ago.
Two students went on a shooting rampage, killing 13 people and hurting more than 20 others.
The two teens then turned the guns on themselves.
Aaron Hancey lives in Grand Junction and was a student at Columbine during the shooting. He said it's something he'll never forget.
Despite the tragedy, he has learned something from his experience
“Most every day you think about it, some part of it, some friend you experienced the shooting with or just friends that you had,” said Hancey. "That my family is very important to me, and I do love them, and they are why I do what I do every day.”
Hancey was the student who tried to help Dave Sanders, the teacher, and coach who was killed that day.
