Teachers work to get classrooms ready as Day 1 quickly approaches

GRAND JUNCTION. Colo. Teachers in School District 51 in Mesa County went back to school on Thursday, getting everything ready for the first day of the year.

Some teachers told us they have been so excited, buying supplies, and preparing for over a few weeks.

“It’s always exciting to see the new kids...helping parents to not be the ones crying when they are saying goodbye at that initial part of the day, said Kindergarten teacher at Dual Immersion Academy, Rose Moglia.

Experts said the way a classroom feels can have a direct impact on the students' learning and teachers want to make them feel as comfortable as possible. or kindergarten, it’s vital to make sure the first day runs smoothly as it’s an eye-opener to what the rest of their school careers will look like.

“It’s really just establishing what the whole rest of the school year is going to be like, hopefully, they are going to like you and feel comfortable liking and getting to know each other and really getting to know what school is going to be about,” said Moglia.
