GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- District 51 students return back to school soon and with more 22,000 students expected to return, parents and kids are making the most of the last couple of days.

“We took them to a camp before school started to kind of do something extra fun and out of the ordinary before we get back into the school routine, said mother Calie Griffith.

Parents said it’s all about routine in order to get back into the swing of things.

“Mine was ready to go back right away, she was kind of already bored from the summer and she loves school so she was ready and had herself prepared before she was going,” said Griffith.

“Our last days of summer went by really fast,” said mother Heather Ozaeta. “We did a lot of bike riding and swimming trying to get in the pool as much as possible.".

Maintaining a normal sleep pattern for their children is the key to success, according to the experts.

“He’s back to having to go back to bed at like 8:30,” said mother Lesley McLeod.

There are around 170 days of classes for this upcoming school year which can vary depending on the middle or high school students attend.
