GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team on Monday said the Deep Creek Fire burning south of Maybell, Colorado is now 79 percent contained.
There was still no word on what started the fire that broke out on Sept. 4.
The fire was a little more than 4,000 acres in size.
Officials said nearly 200 firefighters were monitoring and improving containment lines and were mopping up the perimeter to make sure there were no hot spots.
"As additional containment of the Deep Creek Fire is achieved, crews and equipment will be reassigned to other fires in the area, including the Pine Tree Fire.
Routt County Roads (CR) 52 and 56 are now open to the public.
