Credit card skimmers found at 32 Rd. gas station

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is warning people of credit card fraud using “skimmers” after some were recently found at the C & F gas station on 32 Road on September 28.

Skimmers are devices used to steal your credit card number from a gas pump without you even knowing it. Officials say the devices themselves are not visible from the outside of a pump but gas stations have safety features to show when one has been tampered with.

They say to always look for the security seal sticker before you swipe your credit card and if the seal is broken, don’t use it and tell the cashier. The stickers are near the card reader part of the gas pump, some pumps have more than one.

The photo below from the sheriff's office shows the kind of security sticker you should look for.
