Roice-Hurst asking for donations this winter

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- American pet owners will spend almost $70 billion on our furry best friends this year, according to the American Pet Products Association.

The Roice-Hurst Humane Society is asking the communities for some supplies for pets that don't have their forever homes just yet. They say the holidays are their busiest time of year.

They need items like canned cat food, grain-free dog food and kitty litter. But what they need most are volunteers.

"I think it's important to remember that these animals aren't home for the holidays. They are here in a shelter and we give them as much love and attention as we can but there's no substitute for the warmth of a home,” said Roice-Hurst’s Executive Director Anna Stout.

They are still going through kitten season because of the recent warm temperatures, which is rapidly using up supplies.

You can drop off items at their shelter or use their amazon.com wish list, linked next to this article.
