MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Montrose County is giving out more than $730,000 in grants collected through taxes.
The Montrose Board of County Commissioners is dividing the money between 37 different government and non-profit agencies, including the regional Crime Stoppers, Center for Mental Health and the Dolphin House.
These organizations provide critical community services ranging from rural health care to protection for victims of abuse.
"Our numbers are up in 2017 the number of victims we saw was up almost 50% so this money helps us keep up with those victims,” said the Executive Director for the Dolphin House, Rhonda Follman.
Each organization will receive anywhere from $1,000 to over $300,000.
