GRAND JUNCITON, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Seven western slope outdoor companies were among nearly 100 businesses to write Colorado state senators and representatives after the Denver Outdoor Retailer show.
The companies wrote to give their thanks to our representatives for helping protect the state's public lands which help support their businesses.
The letter says the major convention left Utah after companies say Utah leaders worked to undermine public lands protections.
But, more than half of the Colorado congressional delegation voted for expanding energy development on lands they say deserve protecting. Undermining national monuments and the Antiquities Act were other concerns in the letter.
Senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner, and Representatives Scott Tipton, Diana DeGette, Jared Polis, Ed Perlmutter, Ken Buck, Doug Lamborn and Mike Coffman all got the same letter.
