GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Construction on the highly-anticipated Las Colonias Business Park is set to begin at the end of March.
Grand Junction City Council approved the $2.8 million contract at their recent meeting. The funding is coming from the Downtown Development Authority tax increment bonds.
Skyline Contracting will start work on phase 1 and 1A of the business park. These two phases will focus on building the infrastructure necessary to connect Riverside Parkway to the business park area.
"There's excitement about the business park, trying to make it a google- like a campus, trying to bring all outdoor industries together in one place and there are some restaurants and some bars that have interest in the pads along the Colorado River," said Jay Valentine, the city's deputy finance director.
The project is scheduled to wrap up around August before phase two starts.
