GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- Neighbors in the Redlands said Grand Junction City Council is going too far to allow a new development to be built in their backyard.
The 45-acre Pinnacle Ridge Subdivision sits on hilly land east of Mariposa Drive and north of Monument Road.
Richard Wihara is leading the appeal, saying the site was approved in spite of several codes on the city books that don't match.
Wihara said the plans for some of the roads are too steep, and some lots are too small. The city contends they approved the provisions based on their measurements.
Wihara took his appeal Wednesday to the council.
"I would hope the council will follow the code as it's written," Wihara said. "The code specifics what size of lots should be on hills with this kind of slope and they are not using those standards."
