Ski Cooper readying for Snowcat operations

LEADVILLE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The only resort in Colorado to open on time with 100 percent coverage is getting ready to expand their skiable terrain.

Staff at Ski Cooper said if the next big storm brings enough snowfall, they hope to start offering Snowcat skiing.

That could mean an extra 2,600 acres of untouched powder.

Staff said visitors just need to make a reservation and get ready for backcountry conditions.

If you don't think you can handle that, they do Snowcat tours too.
