GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- How do you get kids outside and moving on a chilly December day?
Altrusa of Grand Junction offered students at Dos Rios Elementary a good book and a treat. It’s the first time the group hosted a story walk in District 51. They say they focus a lot of their work on education, literacy and art.
"We all need a good education and literacy is kind of the pathway to education. You need to be able to read and be a good reader to be a successful citizen,” said Mary Kay Hughes, Altrusa International of Grand Junction.
The students have been focusing on the gingerbread man in the weeks leading up to Christmas and got a gingerbread cookie after they finished the walk.
