CMU Softball: Lady Mavs primed for top teams

CMU Softball has won eight straight games, seven of those via mercy rule.

The Lady Mavs will host a four-game series against UC-Colorado Springs this weekend. Now UCCS is just 3-14 overall. But head coach Ben Garcia says due to their tough early season schedule the Mountain Lions may be better than their record indicates.

"We really know what's ahead of us,” Garcia says. “I think the mindset of our team is one day, one game at a time, play CMU softball."

Now after defeating some lesser opponents CMU is getting into the more difficult part of their schedule. The team says they're ready to take on the top tier teams.

"Basically it's just staying focused in the game and staying on top of what we're doing,” AnnMarie Torres says. “Not having side conversations about other things. Just staying focused on plays being made in the game."
