In high school soccer, it was battle of two southwestern league teams this evening at Longs Park. The Central Lady Warriors hosted the Montrose Indians.
It was a windy night for soccer but that didn’t stop Montrose from getting on the scoreboard early in the first half to make it 1-0 Indians.
Central headed into the second half trailing 1-0.
Goal keeper Nikki Madaris booted a free kick all the way to the net but glanced just off to the right.
Central had chances to even it up at one, but the Warriors just couldn’t find the back of the net. The Montrose defense was stifling all night long.
Montrose went on to pick up the win in full time 1-0. With the win the Indians pick up their first win in southwestern league play.
