CMU Baseball: Mavs advance to RMAC Championships

It was day three of the r-mac baseball tournament.

After winning yesterday 19-0, number one CMU faced their toughest task of the tournament yet. They took on the number two seed Colorado School of Mines earlier today.

The winner would earn a spot in the championship game tomorrow afternoon. Mines would strike early in this one with already a one run lead in the third. Colton Wardle adds to that as he launches a pitch over the wall in left to make it 2-0 Mines.

The Mavs wouldn’t go down without a fight in the bottom half of the inning, it is Kyle Serrano lining one into center just past the out stretch glove and it would go all the way to the wall to give CMU their first run of the game.

In the bottom of the 6th Bligh Madris says goodbye baseball and he deposits a pitch into orbit for the big fly to tie things up at 2.
On the mound the Mavs sent lefty Chris Ramirez and he had rocky start before settling in to go 7 complete innings.

In the top of the 8th inning mines got a break as a ball bounced away from the catcher Serrano and the runner advanced to third then an over throw by Serrano let the Oredigger runner come home to give Mines the 3-2 lead.

Then CMU says hey were are the comeback kids for a reason, Tanner Rempel singled up the middle in the bottom of the 8th to knot things up at 3 apiece.

An inning later the Mavs walk it off again, JJ Carr is the hero in this one as this one just the Mavs now advance to tomorrow's championship with the 3-2 win. All JJ Carr had to do was ask for a little help.

“Before that last pitch I sent a little prayer up to Ryan asking him to help me out and sure enough he came through with another miracle like he always does”, said Carr.
