CMU Baseball: Mavs win 4th consecutive RMAC Title

This afternoon CMU baseball was looking to capture their 4th consecutive RMAC tournament title taking on the School of Mines at Suplizio field.

The Mavs bats were on fire in this one as they jumped out to the 10-4 lead through 4 innings, but Mines wouldn’t go away without a fight.

The freshman Trevor Kehe launched one way up and way out to trim CMU lead to 10-7 in the 5th inning.

The pitching staff was by committee for the Mavs in this one and they got great defense behind them. Kyle Serrano made an unbelievable catch on a popup to end the Oredigger threat in 5th.

With CMU up 11-7 in the bottom of the 6th, Kevan Elcock got in on the action as he drove one into the gap in right to extend the lead.

The next inning the senior Kyle Serrano says it is my turn as he lofts one up into the air stream for the big fly to give CMU the commanding 14-7 lead in the 8th inning.

Tyler day came out of the bullpen to pitch two innings and shut the door on the Orediggers.

The Mavs claim their 4th consecutive RMAC tournament title with today’s 15-7 win and will advance to the regional tournament.
