CMU Baseball: Mavs ready for regionals

The Mavs are heading to San Angelo, TX. CMU earned the two seed in the South Central Region of this year's NCAA Division II Regional Baseball Tournament.

CMU drew the fifth-seeded st. Edwards in the first round on Thursday.

"They’re going to have some good arms,” senior catcher Kyle Serrano says. “They're going to have some good bats. They're going to be able to swing it. Aside from little things like which guys are runners, which guys out of the bullpen they have, other than that we really just focus on ourselves, focus on our approach and how we're going to approach the game."

Although they are the higher seed they know they can't take the Hilltoppers lightly.

"They come into the tournament probably as hot as anybody if not the hottest team,” head coach Chris Hanks says. “I think for us it's a real tough first round draw. But you have to compete or beat most teams to win the thing anyway. They have a good number one. I think it'll be a dog fight."
