Every year the Grand Junction Rockies host a baseball camp for kids aging from 5 to 12 years old and today was the day out at Suplizio field.
More than 50 kids from in and around the Grand Valley came out to learn from the pros.
Grand junction Rockies players and coaches spent two hours helping the kids with everything from hitting and base running to the fundamentals of catching a fly ball in the outfield.
The Rockies players had the chance to interact with the kids first hand during the drills, and even though most of the players are in their teens or twenties, they still realize this is where it all begins in a player’s career.
"I was in their shoes; all of us that worked the camp were in their shoes awhile back. So I know this is where it all starts and to give back to them and help them fulfil their dreams of becoming a professional baseball player is awesome”, said shortstop Ryan Vilade.
