Montrose football didn't have the best of seasons last year finishing 5-5 and 3-2 in the Pikes Peak League.
The Indians will be behind the first-year head coach Brett Mertens. Mertens is no stranger to the Montrose program as he was an offensive coordinator for the tam last season.
"I'm just excited to go through this journey with these kids," Mertens says. "A season is ups and downs and highs and lows. It'll be fun and I'm excited to watch them play on Friday night."
The challenge will be the young group Mertens must develop.
However in his short time he has brought a new swagger to the team.
"As long as he's been here we've seen a different change in energy," senior running back Mason Weig says. "It's just uptempo and he's more involved."
