After high school Colorado Mesa hockey's Amanda Nold wanted to continue playing the sports she has always loved. Now five years later, she is a mainstay in between the post for the Mavericks.
She is this week’s athlete of the week.
"I was a bit surprised when I started the program. This is our 4th year and had a female goalie and now I forget that she’s a female," said CMU Head coach Tim Winegard.
Over the past four years at CMU Nold has become one of the most feared goalies in the state of Colorado.
“Coming up and being the only girl on the team had its challenges, but they make me feel like family so it’s been probably the best years of my hockey life so far here at CMU," said Amanda Nold.
The Mavs are still unbeaten on the season at 3-0-1. Nold has yet to lose a game in the goal so far. CMU will off until September 29th when they travel to take on the Air Force Academy.
