On Saturday night Colorado Mesa volleyball jumped out to the early two set lead, but the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis ended up battling back and beating the Mavs in five sets (19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12)
The Fort Lewis late rally spoiled what was a fantastic night offensively for CMU. The Mavs fall to 10-4 overall and now 4-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Junior outside hitter MacKenzie Edwards recorded 33 kills on the night, which was just one shy of a school record that dates back to 2004.
Colorado Mesa has played their past four matches at home and now will hit the road for a long trip. That stretch will begin next Friday at CSU-Pueblo. The Thunderwolves are 2-12 and 1-5 in the RMAC. First serve from the Massari Arena is set for 7:00 P.M.
