Following in the footsteps of your older siblings in high school sports can sometimes be a challenge, but for central softball's Jordyn Hays she is making her own legacy out on the diamond.
She is this week’s athlete of the week.
Tyler Hays now plays for Adams State University, but three years ago she played a key role in helping the Central Warriors softball team to an 18-3 record. Now her younger sister Jordyn is making her own legacy under head coach Scott Else.
“Jordyn got way into weights and lifting and conditioning and stuff like that so her body is changed. I mean normal fly balls that would be normal routine are now going out of the park, “said head coach Scott Else.
Hays coming into her senior season had planned to play D1 softball at the University of Northern Colorado, but just a few weeks ago announced that she was instead becoming a Colorado Mesa Maverick.
“I just really have no desire to leave and I really like Ben Garcia. He is really one of the biggest things I am going to Mesa for and I just want to stay home,” said Hays.
