HS Softball: Central to face familiar foes

Central was ranked No. 10 in Class 5A to the regular season with only top eight getting to host in the regional tournament.

The teams in Central's region this year are ones the Lady Warriors faced in the past.

Central fell to host Columbine this season, 5-2. But the team defeated Vista Ridge, 12-6.

"We beat Vista Ridge, they're still a very good team, but I think we have a pretty good chance," senior first baseman Hailey Schaneman says. "And Columbine we had a close game, 5-2. So we're pumped. We're just ready to win some games hopefully."

The Lady Warriors tied first-round matchup Castle View last season.

"I think we just stick to fundamentals," head coach Scott Else says. "We don't try and reinvent the wheel or anything. We just go out there and play just solid ball. We don't try to do any fancy tricks. Nothing like that. We pitch, hit, throw, catch. We try and do all the basics. We just try and hit better than they do."

First pitch is set for Saturday at 10 A.M. from Columbine High School
