Central girls basketball lost their top two scorers from last season in Sierra Batchelor and Jada Walker-Towels
These two accounted for more than half of the scoring.
After the first weekend of the season Central came out of the Mitchell Tournament at 1-2.
"The time we've spent together so far, we've already grown so close," senior guard Melina Flores says. "I think that's really helping with our chemistry on and off the court. Definitely hope to get some wins. But I hope to see us grow and learn from what our mistakes were last week and in the Mitchell tournament."
The Warriors defeated Pueblo Central before falling to The Classical Academy and Wheat Ridge.
"We have a lot of kids who are new who have a system that they got to learn," head coach Mary Doane says. "But we also have a good core of kids who are coming back that have been really helpful in teaching them those systems. So it's just time. It's preseason. It's a process."
Central will take on American Fork on Thursday in game two of the Wildcat classic at Fruita Monument High School. Tip off is at 4:30 P.M.
