Basketball is in Brennan Rigby’s blood.
His cousin Gunner was a standout at Fruita Monument last season. His sister Kylyn is a freshman on the CMU Women’s basketball team, but Brennan may be the best out of all of them.
Through six games on the season Brennan is averaging 20.3 points a game with a season high 29 points coming against North Park. The crazy part about is that he stands at just 5 feet 9 inches, but he doesn’t let it bother him.
"Kids are a lot more physical with you. When they're more physical you learn to adapt and stuff with that,” said Rigsby.
When it comes to the freshman’s work ethic it’s hard to find someone who works harder.
"He's always in the gym. He's always working on his game and he's got confidence day in and day out on the floor,” said assistant coach Travis Graham.
If you are wondering about just how good Rigsby is, he put up 7 three pointers in a game against North Park earlier in the season on 19 shots.
Brennan continues to prove it doesn't matter if you're the smallest player. You just got to play with the biggest heart and trust your game to do the talking.
"I want to see what I can do with the game of basketball and hopefully I can get to somewhere where I can help myself out,” said Rigsby.
Brennan and the Dragons will be off until after the New Year when they take on the Soroco Rams on the 5th of January.
