HS Basketball: Grand Junction benefits from tough schedule

Not many teams in the valley have a tougher schedule than the Grand Junction Tigers.

In the first half of the year the Tigers went up against opponents such as perennial powerhouse ThunderRidge and Regis Jesuit.

"It helps us get better and those tough teams they show us a lot and we learn a lot from those games," said senior Truett Richardson.

The trend continues as the second half of the season gets underway this week.

Isaac Madison's team will take on Legend and Ponderosa in back-to-back games at home.

Ponderosa has just one loss this season.

"We're just really trying to peak and be at our best at the start of league," said senior Jake Chaffetz. "So we're using these out-of-league and out-of-league games just to get ready and prep ourselves for league play."

Tip off against Legend will be at 7 P.M. on Friday and against Ponderosa at noon on Saturday from Grand Junction High School.
