HS Basketball: Lady Warriors to welcome in No. 6 Fruita

Central girls basketball begins Southwestern League play at home against No. 6 Fruita Monument.

The Lady Wildcats are 11-1 led by Air Force commit Riley Snyder and Chadron St. commit Angelique Gall.

"They have a lot of good threats on their team but they're really hard to score against," said Central head coach Mary Doane. "We're going to have to take care of the basketball and put the ball in the hole."

Central matches up on paper averaging more points, rebounds, steals and blocks per game.

Fruita is still the back-to-back league champs.

"Mentality wise other teams are afraid of the big name," said Central senior Jackie Mitchell. "I feel like that's something that gets into player's heads a lot."

Tip off is set for Tuesday at 5:30 P.M. from Central High School.
