Palisade winter sports ready for Rifle

Palisade and Rifle is one of the most competitive rivalries on the football field on the Western Slope.

Now it switches to the winter sports.

Palisade wrestling hosts a Triangular Dual on Thursday in which Rifle is one of the teams competing

"A lot of the times we're coming down to league championships at the end so whenever we get to beat Rifle that's usually a big game because that's pretty common that we're always in the same championship with them and the same league," said senior wrestler Austin Bernal. "So it's fun if we can go out there and get the win."

The wrestling match begins at 5 P.M. on Thursday from Palisade.

The boys basketball team defeated Rifle by two points in Rifle on January 4.

"It's definitely a lot more motivation to beat our league opponents," said junior guard Logan Tarman. "It definitely impacts our record in a positive way and gives us that confidence going into our other league games."

The boys basketball team host the Bears on Friday at 7:30 P.M.
