HS Boys Basketball: Fruita tops PVHS, advances to next round

Fruita Monument boys basketball led 8-4 after an ugly first quarter.

The Wildcats tallied 69 points over the next three outscoring Prairie View by 24 points in their 77-49 victory.

"I think getting some of the first quarter nerves aout of the system, I think that's the advantage you have as opposed that teams that play and have the bye," said head coach Ryan Hayden. "We got that under our belts. We got that experience down. Now we just got to do a good job of playing our game."

Fruita has now won eight straight games.

The No. 18-seeded Wildcats will now face No. 15 Broomfield in round two of the CHSAA %A Boys Basketball State Tournament.

The Eagles are 16-7 and are on a seven-game winning streak.

Round two of the playoffs are on Saturday.
